Harmony Pulse — Up Against Down

At the dawn of 2021, Up Against Down releases its new single, “Harmony Pulse”, expressing the band´s need to approach a more positive theme, in light of current world events.

The track was written and performed by Ledd, with the exception of drums, recorded by drummer Mario Mamede. It was mixed in Miloco Studios London and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Pixies, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails).

The release deals with rebirth after chaos, the effort to move forward and, with it, the need to let go of bad memories, thus opening the doors of prisons built by the mind. The lyrics fit into the band´s recurring theme - the human struggle in the face of an ever-changing reality - and complement their previous single, “People That Come And Go", which expressed frustration and disbelief in the modern world, the fragility of connections and the weathering of time.

The new single retains the group´s Post-Punk influence of the '80s, Krautrock and Old School electronics, in a bizarre and modern setting. Bursting arrangements, with vintage synthesizers, droning effects, guitars, bass, and non-linear acoustic and electronic drums form the basis for the vocals.

Fechando o ano de 2021, a Up Against Down lança o seu novo single, “Harmony Pulse”, expressando a necessida- de da banda abordar um tema mais positivo, à luz dos acontecimentos atuais.

A faixa foi inteiramente composta e gravada por Ledd, com exceção da bateria, que contou com a presença do baterista Mario Mamede (Moptop, Herzegovina). A mixagem foi realizada no Miloco Studios London e a masteri- zação ficou por conta de Pete Maher (U2, Pixies, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails).

O lançamento aborda o renascimento após o caos, o esforço para seguir adiante e, com isso, a necessidade de se desapegar de memórias ruins, abrindo assim as portas das prisões construídas pela mente. A letra se insere na temática da banda - da luta humana diante de uma realidade em constante mudança – e complementa o single anterior, “People That Come And Go”, que expressou a frustração e a descrença no mundo moderno, a fragilidade de conexões e o desgaste do tempo.

O novo single mantém a influência Pós-Punk dos anos 80, Krautrock e eletrônico Old School, só que em um

cenário mais bizarro e moderno. Arranjos tumultuados, com sintetizadores vintage, efeitos de droning, guitarras, baixo e bateria acústica e eletrônica não-lineares, fazem a base para os vocais.

A arte e video do lançamento foi elaborada por Armando Louder e o lançamento está sendo feito em parceria com a Plainsong.io, onde o single terá a sua premiere exclusiva.
